The Alberta Research Portal is your gateway to a world-class collection of primary sources. This outstanding resource provides all Albertans with perpetual access to the Gale Primary Sources database, with 69 unique primary source collections, including extensive resources related to First Nations and Indigenous peoples, the Archives of Human Sexuality and Gender, Associated Press Collections, Smithsonian Collection Online, Sabin Americana, 25 titles from Gale Virtual Reference Library, to name but a few. This includes monographs, photographs, newspapers, poetry, original documents, records, and more.

All Albertans share barrier free access to this collection. 


Access to over 60 million Canadian records, including birth, marriage, and death records, census records, military records, immigration and naturalization records and more.

Consumer Reports is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping consumers make informed choices about products, services, and safety. They put over 4000 products through rigorous testing each year. You can use this resource inside and outside of the library. You will be asked for your library barcode when accessing Consumer Reports outside of the library.

Grant Connect is a fundraising platform that connects users with funding opportunities. Explore grant opportunities from over 11,000 Canadian foundations, 560 corporate giving programs, 370 government grant programs, and more.

Library and Archives Canada’s (LAC) collection is the shared documentary heritage of all Canadians and spans the entire history of our country. The collection contains materials in all types of formats from across Canada and around the world that are of interest to Canadians.


LinkedIn Learning is a video tutorial library available to all patrons looking to improve or expand their skills. The site offers thousands of videos and is constantly expanding to ensure patrons have the most up to date information on software, skills, tasks, careers and more.

For Android & iOS users: when logging into the app for the first time, you will be asked for a Library LinkedIn Learning ID which is peacelibrarysystem.


Read and listen to picturebooks in over 50 languages, including English, French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Punjabi, Tagalog, Arabic, German, and Russian. Available on a trial basis until May 2024.

LOTE4Kids is our online database of digital books in World Languages, that allows kids to enjoy the magic of books in LOTE (Languages Other Than English). Each book comes with English translations to help kids learn languages. LOTE4Kids has over 3,0000+ picture books in 65+ languages, with new books and languages released each month – helping libraries to engage immigrant, refugee and multilingual families in their communities.

Niche Academy offers dozens of video tutorials for patrons wanting to learn how to use eResources and useful skill. It also hosts some oral history videos from individuals in the Peace Library System region.


This kid-friendly eResource contains book reviews and enhanced subject access for over 60,000 fiction titles aimed at the K-8 population.

The open government portal is a collection of datasets and publications by Alberta government departments and agencies. The public can use and access this data freely to learn more about how government works, carry out research, or build web apps.

The Kids eReading Room is part of OverDrive and collects titles for kids 0-12 years of age.


PressReader allows patrons to read all of their favourite newspapers online. PressReader has over 7,000 eNewspapers and eMagazines from 120+ countries, in 60+ languages.


Pronunciator is an online language learning system that offers training and studying through courses at your own pace as well as the ability to attend small live classes to practice. There are 70+ foreign language and several ESL courses available.

Bluebird is a language learning app from Pronunciator. Patrons can use the same login credentials as Pronunciator to access. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play store. 


PLSB has partnered with the Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) to make over 1,000 Alberta-published eBooks and eMagazines available to readers across the province. These titles can now be borrowed through the Cantook Station platform on public library websites. The collection is augmented quarterly in March, June, Sept and December, and represents a wide range of genres including memoir, literary fiction, mystery, poetry, historical, scholarly, educational, children’s, graphic novels, young adult and speculative fiction. The collection also contains a small and growing eAudiobook selection.
